9th Annual Thrive! Classic Golf Tournament, a great success.

The 9th annual Watermark for Kids Thrive! Classic Charity Golf Tournament welcomed over 120 golfers to the Omni Tucson National golf course on Thursday, November 14, 2019. The annual golf tournament is the largest fundraiser for the nonprofit committed to empowering under-served kids to thrive. The funds raised will help kids express their character, leadership, creativity, compassion and spirit in 2020.

Golfers included local friends and partners from Tucson, Arizona, and folks who flew in from around the country for their favorite charitable event all year. All who participated enjoyed a rousing game of golf, raffle prizes and awards. The main reason everyone came together was for kids like Stephen Hernandez.

Stephen was on hand to share his first-hand account as a Watermark for Kid. Playing wheelchair basketball changed his life and opened up all kinds of opportunities that he may have never had as a physically challenged person growing up on the South side of Phoenix. He was awarded a scholarship to play and learn at the University of Arizona, so having the right wheelchair was imperative to his success as an athlete.

“For me, having the right chair is like a baseball player having a bat instead of a golf club. My ability to move and play the game at an elite level is impacted greatly by being in a performance chair that is actually measured to my body. I will thrive and perform at new levels with this chair!” shares Stephen.

He is one example of the exemplary children Watermark for Kids impacts every year. The one thing that keeps Christina thriving is dance, and as a Fountains at Canterbury kid she was able to train with the Oklahoma City Ballet. Carmen was able to travel to the Future Health Care Professional conference to explore your opportunities for her dream job in the medical field as The Watermark at 3030 Park kid. And Nayzair attended basketball camp as The Watermark at East Hill’s kid, following his dream to one day pay in the NBA.

Planning for the 10th annual Watermark for Kids Thrive! Golf Tournament is underway. Visit watermarkforkids.com for the latest news and information on the annual fundraiser, and to learn more about your opportunities to support youth in your community.
